Limitless: Ten things I learned watching Limitless with Bradley Cooper
Don't read this if you haven't seen Limitless yet.The movie is pretty good.
1. NZT enables the person who ingests it to use 100% of his brain instead of the normal 10-20%.
2. If one could use 100%, he would not bother with levitation, telekinesis, or time travel. He would think it is more fun to wow people with his vast knowledge at parties.
3. NZT is powerful but it won't help you to remember to pay off the Russian gangster who will kill you if you don't repay him.
4. You can sprint on ice without sliding.
5. When being chased on ice by a man looking for NZT, grab the nearest little girl and swing her into the stalker.
6. If you run out of NZT, simply drink the blood of someone who has just taken it.
7. When the Russian gangster demands NZT, instead of giving it to him, making him smarter, you might consider giving him poison instead.
8. Keep every one of your NZT pills in your jacket so that anyone can easily take it. That is much more secure than a safe.
9. An $8 million safe house won't protect you from Russian gangsters with chainsaws.
10. The hero of the story is the only one who thinks up the idea to make more pills.

NFL Draft 2011: 5 Reasons Cincinnati Bengals Should Not Draft A.J. Green
The Cincinnati Bengals have the fourth pick in the 2011 NFL draft on Thursday, April 29th. Many experts are thinking that the Bengals will take A.J. Green from Georgia. Green seems to think the Bengals will choose him too.
The Bengals need Green because 11-year veteran Chad Ochocinco has played his last down as a Bengal. Green is a quick and explosive route-runner who looks like a ready-made No. 1 wide receiver in the NFL.
However, here is why the Bengals should not take him.
1. Backwards Team Building
Taking a wide receiver is the way to build a team backwards. Sure, Green represents great value at the spot, being a top-notch receiver. However, the Bengals have issues at the QB position, the offensive line, the defensive line and possibly running back. The Bengals should build from the inside out rather than the outside in.
2. The Bengals Have Wide Receivers
The Bengals already have a quick and explosive wide receiver. His name is Jerome Simpson. Simpson had a terrific month in December 2010 and is ready to take over the No. 1 spot.
Aside from Simpson, the Bengals have Jordan Shipley, Jermaine Gresham and Andre Caldwell. The four of them should prove to be reliable targets for the Bengals' quarterback.

3. Facts About Wide Receivers
Since 2001, 40 wide receivers have been taken in the first round. Not all of them are bad, but the success rate isn't good. Only six teams in 2010 were led in receiving yards by a player they picked in the first round.
Furthermore, receivers don't put wins up. Calvin Johnson and Andre Johnson were high picks and are as good as anyone at the position. However, they have not made much difference when it comes to winning games.

4. Crazy Money
The amount of money required to sign a wide receiver chosen at No. 4 will be tremendous. The Bengals just don't need to pay those crazy sums of money to get good production out of the position. They will be smart to pick up a wide receiver later in the draft, where they can get more value.
5. Spread the Ball Around
In 2009, the Bengals made the playoffs with a good running game and improved defense. The passing game dropped off that year. The vertical passing game may be the least important part of the 2011 Bengals. The 2011 Bengals will also be a running team. Jay Gruden (pictured), the new offensive coordinator, and Mike Brown have both said this.
In the passing game, they will need to spread the ball around to be successful. A high pick like Green (who has never put up 1,000 yards in college) will get the ball thrown his way whether it makes sense or not.

Cincinnati Reds: Jay Bruce has hit only 3 line drives in 2011
Bruce is off to a horrible start and is reaching base at a lousy .286 clip so far this year, slugging just .338, and helping none of his fantasy owners. The batted-ball data isn't pretty, either. Through 84 plate appearances, Bruce has somehow hit only three line drives.

Is Cincinnati Reds closer Francisco Cordero overrated?
P -- Francisco Cordero, Reds. He's third among active pitchers with 299 career saves, but he's hardly a lights-out closer with a 3.23 career ERA and 1.36 WHIP. He's proof that a lot of guys could rack up 200-plus saves if given the opportunity.

Sammy Hagar Red book review: 28 Things I learned from reading Red
- 1. His father was a drunk who would go on drunken binges and not be around for extended periods of time.
- 2. He got married in 1968 and had his first child in 1970.

Kentucky's Terrence Jones, Brandon Knight and DeAndre Liggins are all declaring for the NBA Draft
According to Inside Hoops, Kentucky's Terrence Jones, Brandon Knight and DeAndre Liggins are all declaring for the NBA Draft, though it sounds like they're not yet hiring agents.
Go here for the rest.
Most of us that follow the Kentucky Wildcats fully expected that Terrence Jones and Brandon Knight would leave after this year. They are both likely top 15 picks. As I said in this column, Jones’ stock could not get higher. He pretty much has to go before more of his weaknesses are exposed. His playing time would be reduced in the 2011-12 season, also. Knight will be a high pick but he could wait a year and improve slightly. His leaving is not a surprise. The wildcard was DeAndre Liggins. Like Jones, his stock could not get higher. He also has a baby to think about now, also. If he doesn’t get drafted, he will likely go overseas to make some money.

Sammy Hagar Red book review: Michael Anthony is bitter
I just read the new Sammy Hagar book. Here are my thoughts on The Foreword which was written by Michael Anthony who comes off as a very bitter man.
It is interesting reading about the formation of the band from Anthony's perspective. He writes about the early Van Halen days but does not mention David Lee Roth until he discusses his departure. Even then, he refers to him only by his last name.
Be sure to read more about this and all the things I learned by reading the book.

How did the recruits do in the Jordan Brand Classic?
Kentucky fans have been reading about their impressive recruiting haul. They all had their shot to show their skills at The Jordan Brand Classic on April 16, 2011. For those that don't know, the game is a high school all-star basketball game played every year in April. The game is sponsored by Foot Locker and features all the best high school players in the country. Very little defense was played by either team. Outside of blocking shots there was never any attempt to defend. The game is meant as a showcase for the players instead of a real basketball game.
Here is how they did.

Should Manny Ramirez be elected into Baseball's Hall of Fame?
Points for:
Points against:
- Manny Ramirez was one of the greatest hitters in the history of the game. He is the only player in baseball history to hit .310 or better with 525 homers and 525 doubles.
- Led the Red Sox to their first World Series title in years.
Points against:
- Ramirez was a poor fielder.
- He was a bad teammate.
- He was a poor baserunner.
- He was busted three times (2003, 2009, 2011) for steroids.
- I heard on this from some rando sports talk guy who said he heard it from a good source: Manny Ramirez left a turd on the floor of his apartment in Boston when he moved out.
- He is a wife beater.

Cincinnati Reds Joey Votto is evolving
Last year, Joey Votto put up the kind of year that is hard to live up to, winning the NL MVP with a monster +7.4 win season and carrying the Reds to the NL Central title. He hit .324/.424/.600 and was essentially Pujolsian throughout the summer. He hit for average, hit for power, took his walks, and stole 16 bases to boot. If you wanted to find a flaw in his game, you’d have to nitpick at things, and maybe you’d start with his slightly elevated strikeout rate, which suggested that he probably couldn’t keep hitting .320+ while racking up 100 whiffs per year.

Coach Cal wants Doron Lamb to put on 15 pounds
Kentucky Coach John Calipari described Doron Lamb as a lottery pick . . . in 2012.
“He and I talked that if he gains 15 pounds of muscle weight, in my opinion, he’ll be a lottery pick a year from now,” the UK coach said. “His feel for the game is as good as any out there. He finally took on a defensive presence (late in the year) and as he gets physically stronger and tougher and rougher you’re not going to take away his feel for the game or his ability to make shots. So I think what happens is him with 15 more pounds, how are you going to guard him?”
